Kelburn Castle and Country Park

Situated between Largs and Fairlie, it is the ancestral home of the Boyle (originally de Boyville) family who came from Caen in Normandy. They moved up after the Norman conquest and settled in Kelburn around 1140. It is the ancestral home of the Earls of Glasgow.

Today the graffiti covered castle welcomes visitors young and old and offers:

  • castle tours
  • tree climbing
  • foraging courses
  • artisan markets
  • nature trail
  • haunted forest
  • gardens
  • raised woodland walkways
  • outdoor and indoor play areas
  • parks and walks

Something for all the family to enjoy.

If you are using public transport use the 585 bus from the Royal Bank of Scotland on Main Street and ask the driver to drop you at the bus stop opposite Fairlie Bowling Club. It is circa 100 yards walk back towards Largs, to the entrance gates of the castle grounds (see photograph).
