The Cameron Centre is situated at 17-19 Lade Street, Largs, and is a meeting place, tea bar/cafe for the over 50s. It is open from 10am to 4pm Mon/Thu and 10am to 2pm Fri.
The centre was opened by H.R.H Princess Alexandra in May 1980, where a plaque (set in the wall on the left as you enter) was unveiled. The centre was the idea of the late Councillor A D Cameron.
As you can see from the accompanying photographs, the members are a cheerful bunch who enjoy a varied selection of activities including gentle keep fit, bingo, bi-weekly entertainment with light lunches (Oct–Mar), BBQs, special lunches (e.g., St Andrew's Day, Christmas Party, Burns Lunch with guest speaker), and a Knit and Knatter group making items for hospitals, care homes, and early learning at the local school. Other amenities include a pool table, day trips and holidays, weekly draw, and more.
There is also a sun patio with a well-kept garden. Fundraising events are held to supplement the North Ayrshire grant.
The centre also hosts Alzheimer Scotland/Dementia Friendly Largs and Citizens Advice. It is open to anyone from Largs.
For more information and to become a member, just turn up at Lade Street. You will receive a warm welcome.
