Burns

not the national Bard

There are numerous burns (streams) which flow through Largs from ‘the slopes’ to the sea.

The 1st photograph is of Noddleburn which flows through Noddsdale Estate, off Brisbane Glen Road where Brisbane House, birthplace of Sir Thomas Brisbane, stood - until it was destroyed during World War II.

As you can see in photograph No.2, nowadays the Gogo Burn plays host to The Largs Duck Race in July. All proceeds go to RNLI Lifeboats.

The 3rd photograph shows the bridge, dedicated to the memory of Sir Thomas Brisbane of Brisbane and Mackerstoun, which spans the Gogo Burn in Mackerston Place.
